Pet Food

While standard dietary guides often use 5-10 food groups, a model for detailed nutritional analysis can use 12 specific food groups: grains, milk/dairy, fruits, eggs, meat/poultry, fish/shellfish, vegetables, fats/oils, legumes/nuts/seeds, sugars, non-alcoholic beverages, and alcoholic beverages, offering a detailed breakdown for studying dietary patterns. Other systems might condense these, such as the five main groups: fruits, vegetables, grains, protein (meat/beans/eggs), and dairy.
